One evening an Old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside all people. He said "my son the battle between two wolves live inside us all.
One is evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, arrogance, self pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.
The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.
The Grandson thought for a moment and then asked his Grandfather "which wolf wins?"
The Old Cherokee simply replied "the one you feed."
~Cherokee proverb
What a simple story to bring a attention to the power of our thoughts. How often do we let a negative thought or feeling over take us until we feel so badly that we think we cant do anything right. Reliving past mistakes or worrying about the future all feed that "evil wolf." Sometimes this kind of thinking can turn into a pattern or worse, a way of life, until we only see ourselves and the world from a negative place. We forget all about the "good wolf."
